Phrases I’ve learned and hate

Today a very large Ikea delivery arrived.  Poor bastards.

Mein Deutsch is noch nicht sehr gut, aber ich habe ein paar …. Well that’s as far as I can go.  My German is not yet very good, but I have a few sentences/phrases that I’ve had to learn and that our delivery men hate to hear.

Die Türklingel funktioniert nicht. — the doorbell does not work.

Bitte gehen Sie den ganzen Weg nach oben. — please go all the way up (top floor)

Es tut mir leid. — I am sorry.

Der Aufzug funktioniert nicht. — The elevator does not work.

Wirklich. Es funktioniert nicht. — Really. It does not work.

Es tut mir leid. — I am sorry.

Ja, es gibt viele Treppen .  — Yes, there are lot of stairs.

Ja, die fünfte Etage. — The fifth floor.

Es tut mir leid.  — I am sorry.

Bitte hasse mich nicht. — Please don’t hate me.

OK, I might not say that last one, but I sure as hell think it.
