Rest in peace, Ginger

It’s so hard saying goodbye to an old friend. Our beloved Ginger (technically Ginja, but we allowed it to be simplified over the years) became suddenly and terminally sick this past week. She was surrounded by her family right up until the end. She enjoyed her favorite foods (clementines, kale, ziti, and of course Merrie’s Yummie Dog Treats) and snuggled with her favorite stuffies. When the time came, she left the house on her own terms and passed away with dignity in her daddy’s arms.

She was without a doubt the best dog with the greatest personality and biggest heart of any I have ever known. I will miss her company and her flawless ability to clean my kitchen floor.  I am so grateful to have had her in my life, but even more so to have had her in my children’s lives. I think they are better humans for having shared such formative years with animals.

We are all trying very hard to remember all the good times and all the things that made her happy:  cleaning the beach and chasing fish up at Camp, chasing deer or bunnies in Virginia, serving diligently as the Quality Control Manager for the business, playing tugs with her toys.  We know that Ginger touched many lives and brought love and comfort to more than just our little family.  The world is a little less bright without her here, but our lives are forever better for having known her.
